About the Poetry

All of the poems in this blog are spirit-inspired. Every word came to me each day for a full year while in deep meditation. I simply wrote what I heard onto a pad of paper in my lap with eyes closed – meaningful, multi-stanza verses in mere minutes. I was unaware of each poem’s theme until I transcribed it later word for word. Each day brought new and wondrous discoveries about the world beyond our five physical senses, incredible wisdom, and messages of hope which I share with you in this blog. The last poems received are displayed below on this page, but the entire collection of 365+ poems are archived here in the left-hand column. You can search by topic or keyword using the search box in the upper left corner. May you find among them just the right message which speaks to your heart.

Poem #203 - Survival

The hawk circles slowly in flight.
Its wings as black as the darkest night.
He scans the field for movement slight.
Hoping for a tiny bite.

With expert vision he does see
Through the branches of the tree
Where sunlight filters to the ground
And down he swoops without a sound.

A tiny mouse runs through the grass
Unaware of what’s soon to pass.
Then with a sense of coming dread
He sees a shadow overhead.

A stab of fear runs through his heart.
Causing him to jump, then dart,
Then scurry with his tiny feet
Unwilling to accept defeat.

Throughout your earth you see this scene:
The mighty swoop, the meek they scream.
It’s all the same strong will to live
That to each soul great strength does give.

Whether strong or whether meek,
It is survival all do seek.
Resulting oft in dire action
Causing much dissatisfaction.

Understand this will to live
Is a force the Self does give
A longing to keep plodding on
When oft it seems all hope is gone.

Whether strong and soaring high
Or meek as a mouse, you cannot die.
For you are spirit at your core
And you shall live forever more.

  1. Powerful poem this morning! The hawk and the mouse...the mighty and the meek..."survival all do seek." The imagery is striking, the storyline is bold, and yet the message is comforting. "And you shall live forever more."

May we celebrate the undying spirit within as we walk our paths in love this day...

  2. Wonderful detail and imagery. A good poem for all ages...

A strong message from "spirit" that our inner essence never dies even if we lose our outer shell and armor.
