Guard your emotions closely.
They’re a potent form of expression.
With this form of experience
You go from ecstasy to depression.
Emotions are your lifeline.
You hold them with the tightest grip.
As if to let them drift away
Your very life would also slip.
Some people are addicted
To certain ways of feeling.
But look at emotions closely.
For inner thoughts they are revealing.
Concern yourself not with feelings
But the thoughts which are their cause.
For if you understood this well
It would truly give you pause.
Do you really have a need to live
With so much turmoil and such grief?
By calming down your inner thoughts
From strong emotions find relief.
No need to feel such wide-spread swings.
Of more balanced thoughts you’re able.
So study what you think and do
To have a life more stable.
The see-saw does go up and down
With greater motion at the ends.
But it’s sitting in the middle
On which your balance it depends.
So take a look at how you act
When extreme thoughts get in the way.
And move more toward the center
For more peace in every day.
About the Poetry
All of the poems in this blog are spirit-inspired. Every word came to me each day for a full year while in deep meditation. I simply wrote what I heard onto a pad of paper in my lap with eyes closed – meaningful, multi-stanza verses in mere minutes. I was unaware of each poem’s theme until I transcribed it later word for word. Each day brought new and wondrous discoveries about the world beyond our five physical senses, incredible wisdom, and messages of hope which I share with you in this blog. The last poems received are displayed below on this page, but the entire collection of 365+ poems are archived here in the left-hand column. You can search by topic or keyword using the search box in the upper left corner. May you find among them just the right message which speaks to your heart.

Having been on an emotional roller coaster this week. This poem is such a God send.
ReplyDeleteWow...yet another caution from the world of spirit on the theme of "balance" this week. The message is to seek balance in our emotions. "The see-saw does go up and down with greater motion at the ends." This image speaks to me as I recall an incident from my childhood. A friend hopped off the see-saw, and I came crashing down... "And move more toward the center for more peace in every day."
ReplyDeleteOn to living a more balanced and peaceful life today...
What a lovely poem and so significant.
ReplyDeleteOur emotions do reflect our inner feelings and state of mind. Our emotions change like waves on the ocean..
I like the image of the see-saw and how it symbolizes the ups and downs of life. How we embrace and tackle our difficulties in life often determines the quality of our lives.
Finding balance is the key, "So take a look at how you act when extreme thoughts get in the way." Thoughts and emotions are powerful strings that can get the best of us if we lose our balance...
